RATATOUILLE, THE SNOWBOARDING OPOSSUM

“Ummm…cute, but do you really think that’s fun for him.”

WHAT TO DO IF YOU FIND ORPHANED OPOSSUMS

“It is popular with some people to joke about dead ‘possums on the highway. Besides the obvious, there isanother reason that it is no joke: infant opossums are carried in the mother’s pouch, and often, one or all of them (up to 13!) can be left initially unharmed by the impact of the car. Most of us at the National Opossum Society habitually check the body of hit-by-car opossums for living infants. If there are none, we can at least remove the body from the road to keep it from endangering the life of another animal that may utilize it as food, as well as out of respect for the creature.” MORE [National Opossum Society]

If there are infants, action should be taken immediately!

MOTHER EARTH’S THIRD EYE

Mine, says the cat, putting out his paw of darkness.

My lover, my friend, my slave, my toy ….

The Cat’s Song, Marge PiercyMars and Her Children

♥ ♥ ♥

Cats! I do believe they are

Mother Earth’s third eye.

They have the gift of the seer,

and the ginger of a Samurai, much

too independent for such tiny

creatures, all tenderness and

trouble. No matter, we do

hold them dear though difficult

and they hold our old hearts in

paws with claws. Danger!

We’re bedazzled and bamboozled

and when they leave as

they must do, we honor them

with altars woven of tear drops

to sit bedside until our own good night.
