SINGING TOADS and golden frogs

Video posted to YouTube by dphotomeister.

Froggy chanting … like when humans go Ommmmm…. mani padme hum …

We were surprised when we did research to find that there are actually a range of sounds – including screams – that frogs emit. This one is indeed like “froggy chanting” – rather meditative – and seemed a nice peaceful pic for a Sunday.

Frogs and toad are, by the way, the same creatures.

A little froggy  trivia:

The Moche people of ancient Peru worshipped animals and often depicted frogs in their art. In Panama local legend promised luck to anyone who spotted a golden frog in the wild and some believed that when Panamanian Golden Frogs died, they would turn into a gold talisman, known as a huaca. Today, despite being extinct in the wildPanamanian Golden Frogs remain an important cultural symbol and can be found on decorative cloth molas made by the Kuna Indians, on T-shirts, as inlaid design on a new overpass in Panama City and even on lottery tickets.
