MAGICAL, MYSTICAL, MYTHICAL UNICORN

“Ha! Unicorn Myth … the operative word being “corn” …

Corny or not the human fell in love with unicorns thirty-seven years ago on a visit to the Cloisters in New York. The Cloisters is a part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In the 1930s it was reconstructed from the architechtural elements of several European medieval abbeys. Among the exhibits there is a collection of old tapistries that depict unicorns.

All of the unicorn tapestry photographs are in the public domain. I believe they are all from the Netherlands circa 15th Century and are now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The photograph of the Italian Fresco is in the public domain.
